Quaintance quickly found his next college home after logging into the transfer portal on April 2nd, probably in an effort to finalise his NIL deals before the House settlement took effect.
During the fall signing period in 2023, Quaintance, who was initially a 5-star prospect and ranked eighth overall by Rivals in the class of 2024, committed to the Wildcats. However, Quaintance renounced his promise once John Calipari departed town, almost signed with the Louisville Cardinals, and finally committed with Arizona State.
Quaintance, a 6-foot-9 Cleveland, Ohio native, has the ability to compete at an All-SEC level the next season, but there’s a caveat. There is a significant injury concern going into the fall because he is still healing from an ACL tear he sustained late in the regular season during his freshman year.
But according to his father, who spoke to ESPN, his kid should be cleared for contact in September, meaning he might be prepared for the 2025โ2026 NCAA basketball season.
Quaintance averaged 9.3 points on 52.5% shooting (18.8% from three-point range), 7.8 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in 29.7 minutes per game across 24 games played during the previous season. He was selected to the All-Defensive and All-Freshman teams of the Big 12.
Quaintance played like a grown man despite being the youngest player in collegiate basketball, recording nine games with double-digit rebounds, including two games with 14 rebounds.
HUGE victory for Mark Pope and his team!
