The Kentucky Wildcats and Mark Pope are now completely working on the transfer portal, although they have only signed one player, guard Kam Williams of Tulane.
Despite pursuing numerous outstanding athletes, Kentucky has not secured any new commitments. With Donovan Dent to UCLA, Dedan Thomas Jr. attending LSU, Obi Agbim committing to Baylor, and Magoon Gwath most recently announcing his intention to return to San Diego State, several of Kentucky’s targets have moved on.
After a few different recruiting analysts logged crystal balls for him to select Kentucky, the Gwath news last night was a huge surprise.
Since the Wildcats haven’t added a player in a few days and a lot of top talent has left the market, some Kentucky supporters are beginning to worry a little bit about the transfer portal.
Fans of Kentucky shouldn’t panic since it’s still early and the Wildcats have a ton of guys that the staff is in a strong position to sign.
Fans will quickly relax if the Wildcats can bring in a big fish like Yaxel Lendeborg and snag a few strong players via the portal.
Kentucky can also wait and watch who else will visit the gateway as more players will be entering it.
Although some of Kentucky’s key targets have been overlooked in the portal, the staff has a strategy and will assemble a top-tier roster for the 2025–2026 campaign.
