Throughout the Kirby Smart era, the Bulldogs have produced outstanding offensive tackles year after year. It was Amarius Mims who was selected in the first round of the NFL Draft at the conclusion of the 2023 season. It was Broderick Jones a year earlier.
Earnest Greene came next. But the returning starter’s growth was hindered by a hampered 2024 season. Throughout the season, the Bulldogs had to switch around their offensive line, and in their Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame, they had to move Monroe Freeling to left tackle.
Earnest Greene’s “bounce-back” season has begun. He has to regain his confidence and stay healthy, but he has the talent to return right away and have a fantastic season at left tackle. This week, head coach Kirby Smart stated that although he is currently battling an ailment, he is making progress.
“He’s had some bumps and bruises, Earnest,” Smart said. Due to his dislocated finger, he must wear a club. He finds it annoying that he is unable to utilise his hand. He will be much better when he returns with the ability to use his hand, so I told him it would be an opportunity to grow much better. He is putting a lot of effort into his practice. He seems to have put a lot of effort into the scrimmage on Saturday. He and Micah [Morris] attempted to guide and motivate others. Therefore, I’m happy with his tenacity because he’s competing and improving every day while holding a club.
REMEMBER YOUR FANDUEL WINNERS!
The Buffalo Bills have +380 odds to win the AFC Championship in the 2025 regular season, which begins in the autumn, according to FanDuel.
Greene is unquestionably one of the most important leaders on the offence as a whole, not just in the offensive line room, having started nine games last fall. He is pushing the other linemen as best he can as he begins his fourth year with the organisation.
“Well, you are here to compete at the University of Georgia. Therefore, depth is involved in competing if that is one of the motivations. And ability goes along with depth. Everyone here is obviously talented, and they have a purpose. It really comes down to maximising everyone’s ability, whether that be on the football pitch or in the weight room.
By the time the 2025 season begins, Greene should be completely healed and occupying the left tackle position. Prior to suffering an arm injury, he started nine games there last season and is the best choice when he can play. If Greene and the rest of the group can remain a little healthier, Georgia’s offensive line should make a much-needed improvement this coming season after injuries severely harmed them last year.
