The Tennessee women’s basketball season has concluded its SEC regular season play, and the Lady Vols will start the SEC tournament this week. Georgia defeated the No. 11-ranked Vols 72-69 in a surprising home matchup on Sunday.
The upset was caused by the Lady Vols’ subpar shooting performance. The Vols only made 33.9% of their field goals, including 6 of 28 (31.4%) from three-point range. That appears to have been the main difference between the two teams, as the Vols fall to 8-8 in league play this year.
J. Spear, who went a perfect 10 for 10 from the free throw line to score 20 points on the day, led the Vols in scoring. As they prepare to participate in the conference tournament this week, the Vols hope to have their best basketball team in order to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
