A trade proposal brings one of baseball’s finest hitters to the Chicago Cubs from the New York Mets.
Pete Alonso, the Mets’ standout, is one of the probable names for Chicago.
It was reported earlier this offseason that they were interested in Alonso. His potential to blast 40 or more home runs per season could help them make the playoffs in 2024.
Alonso will also become a free agent at the end of the season, and New York does not appear to be a squad capable of competing with the top half of the National League.
There may not be a better time to trade Alonso than now.
