Kirby Smart and the Georgia football team are powerless to avoid the legal problems from emerging once spring training camps formally begin. Nitareon “Nitro” Tuggle, a rookie wide receiver, is the most recent player to be subject to possible consequences after his arrest on Thursday morning.
According to Rivals.com affiliate UGASports, Tuggle, 18, was taken into custody by the Athens-Clarke County Police on misdemeanour charges of reckless driving and speeding. Soon after the arrest, he paid bail and was freed a few hours later.
Tuggle is the most recent Bulldog to be arrested for driving, which is a startling trend after former offensive lineman Devin Willock died in a car accident in January 2023. Since then, Smart has expressed his displeasure with the statistic and stated that the team will discipline players who have been involved in such events in the future.
Tuggle, a former four-star prospect from Nappanee, Indiana’s Northwood High School, is coming off a lacklustre rookie campaign. In 2024, he played in eight Georgia games and recorded a stat in two of them. He caught three passes for 34 yards at the end of the season, the most of which came against Tennessee, ranked seventh, in Week 10.
Tuggle is among the team’s best second-year breakout prospects in 2025, despite being mainly unproductive in 2024. Tuggle is expected to rise up the depth chart and have an opportunity to compete for significant playing time if top receivers Dominic Lovett and Arian Smith leave.
