The team’s path to a 2025 comeback season will begin unofficially on G-Day. The squad did not have its usual championship-level aura throughout the season and concluded it on a down note, losing to Notre Dame 23-10 in the Sugar Bowl, even though Georgia still qualified for the College Football Playoffs in 2024.
Smart and Georgia have had to cope with a number of adjustments since the 2024 season ended. Carson Beck, the quarterback, most famously committed to Miami by using the transfer site. In order to give his backup, Gunner Stockton, an advantage going into spring training, Smart chose not to replace him in the portal.
Georgia will still have Oscar Delp, Nate Frazier, and Dillon Bell, three important starters, despite the losses. Zachariah Branch, a former wide receiver for USC and one of the best players on the 2024–2025 transfer site, was also added.
