It’s difficult to predict the Kentucky Wildcats’ postseason performance because they are severely injured as March draws near. When Lamont Butler and Jaxson Robinson are playing, Kentucky is among the top ten collegiate basketball teams.
The issue is that these men are not in good health, and it is unclear when they will fully recover. It is unlikely that the Wildcats will advance past the opening weekend if these two are not healthy enough to play in the Big Dance.
On the other hand, this squad has the potential to go on a run if Mark Pope can quickly get Robinson and Butler back to playing well.
Andrew Carr’s back issue appears to be a little more worrisome than either Robinson’s or Butler’s. The 6’11 Carr is still playing with the injury, but his production has suffered because he is not fully recovered.
Kerr Kriisa hasn’t played since the Gonzaga game, so it is likely that he won’t return to the court this season. However, the squad has grown accustomed to playing without him.
Although the Wildcats are far from perfect, Coach Pope’s squad will probably be a popular bet to win some games if they get close to it before the NCAA Tournament. If Robinson and Butler return to the court, the Wildcats might be a surprising contender for Final Four selections since Kentucky has shown they can win important games.
