Riley Leonard, a quarterback for Notre Dame, was selected 189th overall by the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, making him the first Fighting Irish quarterback to hear his name called in the NFL selection. Leonard is headed directly south to Indianapolis, where he could be able to advance up the quarterback depth chart.
Although the Colts have bodies, there is currently uncertainty at quarterback. Daniel Jones joined the Colts after having a rough time with the New York Giants, while Anthony Richardson, a high draft pick, is still figuring things out. Kansas’ Jason Bean has also been on and off the Colts depth chart for the past two years.
Although it’s unclear what the future holds for Leonard, many were anticipating his next trip, Indianapolis, on Saturday.
