LSU could have given up after losing three straight games. After losing to Florida, LSU was eliminated from the SEC title chase and the playoffs, forcing the Tigers to find another team to compete for.
LSU turned up for their final home games of the season. The team led by Brian Kelly persevered and defeated Vanderbilt and Oklahoma to end the regular season.
Kelly remained steadfast in his beliefs about what he was creating at LSU after the victory over the Sooners.
“I’m proud of my team,” Kelly remarked. “Over the past two weeks, they just went out and played inspired football while listening to the narratives that they weren’t excited to play for anything and that the season was over.”
Kelly continued after that.
You know, we’ll see you at the national championship, and we’re collecting receipts. It’s building for this team,” Kelly said.
Kelly claimed to be aware of Baton Rouge’s criteria.
“Winning every game is everyone’s goal. Our goal was to win each and every game. If we lose a game, we’re not happy,” Kelly remarked.
But Kelly continues to believe in the program’s core despite LSU’s difficulties and irregularities in 2024.
Kelly stated, “We’re pleased with the program’s foundation, playing with young players who will only get better, and we’re going to supplement those players.”
What we’ve been hearing for the past few weeks—that LSU will be aggressive in the transfer portal—is echoed by Kelly’s statement that LSU will complement the core.
Kelly stated that LSU would keep important players, which excites him about the program’s future in addition to what LSU might add via the portal.
