Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler files lawsuit for additional year of eligibility

Could it be that Zakai Zeigler, the point guard for Tennessee, is still alive and well for Kentucky fans?

Unbelievably, Zeigler is fighting the NCAA to extend his eligibility for another year, and he may succeed.

Zeigler claims in his case that the NCAA’s regulation restricting athletes to four seasons of competition is illegal under antitrust law and that players ought to be able to compete for five seasons throughout their five-year eligibility window.

During all four of his seasons at Tennessee, Zeigler played 30 more games per season. There doesn’t seem to be a compelling case for him to be given a fifth season, but when the NCAA is involved, anything can happen—and generally in a bad way.
