So far in the 2025 WNBA season, the Indiana Fever have faced an unimaginable amount of hardship. And this hardship was made worse just a few days ago when it was revealed that the Fever’s only two point guards, Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald, both sustained season-ending injuries during the team’s game against the Phoenix Mercury on August 7.

The squad had to quickly find another player on a hardship contract as a result, and on August 10 they signed Odyssey Sims.

Caitlin Clark, the team’s star guard, is still there, of course. However, Clark has been sidelined since July 15 while she recovers from a groin ailment.

On August 1, 2025, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, 22, watches from the team bench.

Stephanie White Discusses Caitlin Clark’s Recuperation after Her Injury
Some fans were hopeful that Clark would make a comeback on Tuesday after seeing her listed as a “Game-Time Decision” for the Fever’s game on August 12 on the WNBA’s website.

But in an interview with the media following Indiana’s practice on August 11, Fever head coach Stephanie White appeared to put an end to this.

White replied, “No return to practice,” in response to a question about whether Clark had been able to do anything more since starting to run on the floor last week. With all of her body weight, she has been able to put a little more effort into her full-court runs. From exercising very little to developing some endurance to perform for extended lengths of time, it’s really building up.

“In terms of her movement on the court, she has been able to accomplish a bit more. According to a Tony East YouTube video, White went on to say of Clark, “But not into practice yet, no.”

Many supporters will undoubtedly be disappointed because Clark’s continued lack of practice virtually ensures that she won’t be able to play against the Dallas Wings on Tuesday.

The bright side is that Clark doesn’t appear to have had any setbacks in her recuperation. It may yet be some time before she returns to the court because the Fever are eager to get her back as gradually as possible.

However, if Clark is (hopefully) fully recovered, her comeback should coincide with the Fever’s efforts to strengthen their postseason standing. Indiana is presently ranked No. 5 in the WNBA rankings with an 18-14 record.
