The Tennessee Volunteers get ready to play Miami (OH) in the Knoxville regional’s opening round.
The Tennessee Volunteers will play Miami (OH) at 6 PM tonight, marking the start of the postseason journey for the defending national champions. The Knoxville regional opener will be Wake Forest vs. Cincinnati.
The Vols will play their first game against Miami (OH), the No. 4 seed in the Knoxville regional, as they host postseason baseball for the fourth time in the last five years. The Redhawks received an automatic bid into the field after winning the MAC tournament last week.
This will be Tennessee’s ninth time hosting a regional at Lindsey Nelson Stadium and its fifteenth time participating in the NCAA tournament. Since the tournament changed to its current four-team regional format in 1999, the Vols have won all five of its regionals in Knoxville. They have also gone undefeated (12-0) in their last four home regionals.
Tennessee would face the victor of the Fayetteville regional in a best-of-three super regional the following weekend if it were to advance from the Knoxville regional.
