Maria Sharapova has a knack for drawing large crowds. After defeating Simona Halep of Romania to win the 2014 French Open women’s title, the 27-year-old celebrated in style with a Trocadero photo shoot in front of Paris’s Eiffel Tower.

In front of a crowded centre court, the Russian tennis star defeated fourth-seeded Halep 6-4 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 on Saturday afternoon to win the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen trophy, her second Roland Garros title and fifth major slam of her career.

Sharapova wins her second French Open championship.
The Tube is how Maria Sharapova gets around.
She had won the Australian Open in 2008, the US Open in 2006, and Wimbledon in 2004, when she made her debut as a 17-year-old sensation. This victory adds to her victory in the same tournament back in 2012.

Ten years after she last won the competition, Sharapova will be looking to add another title to her collection at SW19 as Wimbledon draws near.

After the game, she remarked, “It’s unbelievable.” I never would have imagined that at the age of 27, I would have won more Roland Garros titles than any other Grand Slam. That was seven or eight years ago. I’m really excited about this tournament. While I was growing up, I wanted to win a tournament.

“This is the hardest Grand Slam final I’ve ever played,” she continued. Simona deserves all the respect.
