Trump is not interested in becoming president.

When Trump spoke to NBC News in March 2025, he said, “A lot of people want me to run for a third term.”
“I’m not kidding,” he explained. In reference to a potential situation in which the vice president runs and then transfers the position to him, he continued, “There are methods which you could do it.”
He added, “But there are others too.”
When asked to share, Trump only said, “No.”

It was established to keep our democracy from devolving into a dictatorship and to continue the honourable custom of George Washington’s graceful resignation after eight years.
It is challenging, but not impossible, to amend the Constitution. In order to propose modifications, a constitutional convention must be called by two-thirds of the states or by a two-thirds vote of Congress. Three-quarters of the states would then need to ratify any option.
