The freshman sensation from the Crimson Tide has earlier declared his intention to remain in the 2025 NBA Draft. He had until May 28 to decide whether to remain in the draft process or to withdraw, but suddenly everything is different.

Is Labaron Philon better off staying in the NBA Draft or going back to Alabama? Only a Minute

Philon said that he was “all in” on the process to advance to the next phase when he made his draft announcement. Philon stated on “The SchuZ Show” on April 28 that he is still totally focused on the draft, “but things could change.”

Closing the door on a possible return to Alabama, he reaffirmed his commitment to the draft on May 14. He has, however, altered his mind.

Throughout the season, Philon gained widespread recognition, as seen by his three SEC Freshman of the Week awards. Because he has been featured in numerous mock drafts for a considerable amount of time, observers expected him to be a one-and-done player and join the 2025 NBA Draft. He averaged 10.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and a Crimson Tide-high 1.3 steals per game at the end of his first campaign.

His return for a sophomore season probably indicates that he wants his draft value to rise even higher, even though he has been projected to go between the late first and early second rounds.

Philon will probably be the team’s main ball-handler and top scoring option in 2025–2026. He is the lone starter from the club that returned from the previous season.

With Philon on board, Alabama had one spot left for the squad the following season. The roster is shown here, along with the status and position of each player.
