C.J. Stroud, quarterback for the Houston Texans, is coming off a season that had some highs and lows over his 17-game schedule going into the 2025 NFL season.
He experienced greater turnover problems, a decline in his completion rate, and—perhaps most significantly—an unreliable front- and receiver-line supporting cast, which made his second season as a professional even more challenging.
However, it’s evident that this Houston team is finding a great deal of trust in their starting quarterback after the Texans had a successful summer and Stroud and this offense appeared to have a successful training camp.
The Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter is the most recent to comment on what he has observed of C.J. Stroud thus far during training camp. In addition to sharing his opinions on a successful camp, Lassiter also acknowledged that Stroud is, in his opinion, the best quarterback in the NFL.
“I mean, C.J.’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league, if not the best.” Regarding Stroud, Lassiter stated in a Big Sarge Media interview. “I think he’s the finest, but you can disagree. Every day he makes us better. We reciprocate him by throwing things at him, IDing checks, placing us in difficult positions, and IDing our defenses. We challenge him, and that’s how we develop as a group. The transgression is better understood by us. They improve us.
Undoubtedly, Stroud deserves a lot of credit, but if anything, it shows how confident this team is in their franchise signal caller heading into the upcoming season.
After a challenging season, Stroud still has the skills necessary to be a top-tier quarterback at the next level; he only needs the roster to make a few significant edge improvements to get him in line with a better supporting cast. Houston not only made sure to do this by adding both rookie and veteran wideout talent, but their offensive line is also in a completely different position than it was during their most recent campaign.

It remains to be seen how well or poorly those changes work out, but as far as the Texans’ quarterbacking is concerned, there are no doubts: C.J. Stroud is the man and always will be.
